Setup: To set up a quiz in Canvas that requires students to use LockDown Browser and Monitor Proctoring, follow these steps:
LockDown Browser
1. Require Respondus LockDown Browser in the Quiz Setting
Build the quiz in the Canvas course, as normal, and select the option to “Require Respondus LockDown Browser” and “Required to view quiz results.”
Don’t forget to save the settings.
2. Access the LockDown Browser Settings
From the Course Navigation on the left in Canvas, select “LockDown Browser.”
A list of quizzes in the course will be displayed.
Quizzes labeled with Required require students to use LockDown Browser.
Quizzes labeled with Not Required do not require students to use LockDown Browser.
The Proctoring column also displays whether or not Respondus Monitor Proctoring is enabled.
3. Access the Respondus Settings
Click the drop-down menu next to the appropriate quiz or exam.
Select Settings from the context menu to the left of the quiz title and select the desired option.
4. Require LockDown Browser
Select “Require LockDown Browser for this exam.”
If an access code appears, remove it by selecting and deleting.
Optionally you may create an access code that students must enter to start the quiz. (LockDown Browser will prompt students to enter the instructor-provided code before proceeding with the quiz.)
5. Advanced Settings
Require LockDown Browser to view feedback and results. (RECOMMENDED)
Lock students into the browser until exam is completed. (This is sometimes used in testing centers where a proctor can enter a password to exit an exam early.) (NOT RECOMMENDED)
Allow students to access a list of specified web domains during the test. The specific web domains must be entered for student access. (REQUIRED if accessing outside materials/resources)
Enable Calculator on the toolbar (RECOMMENDED)
Enable Printing from the toolbar (NOT RECOMMENDED)

Allowing Access to External Documents
PDF’s and other documents can be accessed using this method.
Documents should be saved in a shared folder. (set up by iDesign).
Use the URL from sharing the document with access given to all users within CU Anschutz to View Only.
Require Monitor proctoring/recording by selecting “Require Respondus Monitor.”
7. Respondus Monitor Proctoring: Select Webcam and Screen
Note: “Webcam + Screen” must be selected for students to receive a five minute unproctored review.

9. Face Detection Options
Prevent student from starting the exam if face cannot be seen clearly in video. (RECOMMENDED)
Notify student during the exam if face cannot be seen clearly in the video. (NOT RECOMMENDED- consistent notifications if students are only slightly not in frame)
Enter a demo student username for use by the instructor (This allows faculty to log on using the the LockDown Browser and test/review the quiz/exam from the student’s perspective (Click here for more info)
If using this feature, enter a demo student name. Example: PharmTest1 (RECOMMENDED)
